It's back to normal now, but on Tuesday afternoon workers were hiding for their lives. Mike Wolf was working on a flat-bed trailer when he heard an explosion. "I saw smoking coming from the ground and then I saw rocks flying in the air over telegraph polls," says Wolf "Then I saw rock coming in my direction. That's when I ducked under the truck." One of the rocks came perilously close, hurtling into the side of a trailer, inches from where wolf was working. Reflecting on the huge gash in the side on the flat-bed, Wolf sighs "No hard hat would have saved me" The rocks came from the quarry above the industrial site, run by Mid Island Aggregate. Blasters were laying charges to break up rock when something went horribly wrong. People working in the area say the ground shook, around 3 pm as they heard an explosion Emergency crews rushed to the scene taking three people to Victoria General Hospital. One man has been released; the two other workers remain in hospital and stable condition; a 50-year-old woman who was trying to shield herself from falling debris when a rock severed her arm at the elbow, and a man who was struck in the head by a rock CTV News has learned the three work at Ted's Blasting in Duncan. Video Monitor Solutions for Trade Show Displays

Many small clubs are starting to experiment with video monitors for their trade show displays. And this is a great idea - video can be a compelling addition and can pull in a crowd and increase audience engagement in your booth. There are some low-cost options for video - the one that suits your enterprise best will depend on the type of display you have and how you want to use the video.

One way to add a video monitor to your trade show display is to put the monitor directly on your display. If your enterprise has a modular display, like a truss, this is easy. You can ordinarily buy a monitor mount and attachment system from your seller and install the monitor directly on the trade show display. If you have a pop up display you may also be able to mount a small monitor to the pop up frame - either directly connecting to the channel bars or attaching to the pop up frame. Again, check with your seller - they can offer solutions compatible with your pop up model. But remember - since pop up trade show displays are themselves light weight, be true not to use a large monitor (no more than 23" diagonal) and don't mount the monitor at the top of the frame.

Teds Camera

Another video monitor solution is a pole mounted monitor that is isolate from your trade show display. This allows you flexibility on where you want to place the monitor - sometimes it may be better right next to your display, sometimes farther out - closer to the traffic aisle. It of course depends how you want to use it. If the video article is "lightweight" or marketing oriented, you may want the monitor closer to the aisle to stop traffic at the booth where you can engage them. If the article is more technical, you may want the monitor inside the booth, after you've been able to qualify and position the video for prospects.

Yet a distinct choice for a video monitor involves a workstation kiosk - essentially a podium and a pole - that allows your enterprise to have a keyboard/mouse and monitor set up. This is a great arrangement if you want to do product demos or have audience interaction - you or the audience member can "drive" the application from the podium.
